Due to the heavy rainfall and a strong current, the Daintree Ferry service may be suspended around high tide this evening, Wednesday, 17 September.
While the high tide is at 7:30 pm, at which time the water will likely inundate the ferry approach roads, there is potential that it could close earlier.
The water level is expected to rise quickly from 3 pm, the rain has continued, and the situation is being monitored closely.
The intention is to resume ferry services once the flood waters have receded, if it is safe to do so, but we are unable to provide a timeframe at present. An update will be provided later this afternoon when we have more accurate data.
